"great detectives"! !!! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

sometimes only an anime about poirot and marple will do. sometimes the glitches will make you laugh until you cry.

("great detectives poirot and marple" has been kindly uploaded on youtube should you want to watch it.)

the utter thrill of this, the last full week of april 2014

this week has come in pairs. nsaids and ice packs, bananas and nutella (recipe), digital prophets and guffaws.

in the midst of these combinations, i have been continuing the massive clear out. get ready, pnw. i am unleashing my tshirt collection (which took me almost 20 years to amass) on your unworthy thrift stores. (i really should save these and donate them in chicago but i would rather not move them. again.)

also biting the dust, the giant box of collage material. most of it is now in the recycle bin but a small portion of it will be pasted into this book.

fuck you and your blog indeed. now to add "glue sticks" to my bday wishlist.

four hot dogs

holy hell how did this even happen? ah, well, left over ham is the answer. also i have a major love of unorthodox hot dogs.

the four that leff and i split for dinner are, clockwise, chicago dog, texas caviar dog, cuban dog and a mac and cheese dog.

i know, yes, i know.  oh, how i know.

easter

easter is bellini day

aside from the alcohol, we had this ham, potatoes au gratin, creamed collards and horseradish deviled eggs.

it was great, hambinis.

 there was even a rainbow.

motion sensor henry viii

perhaps you are wondering why there is a cropped reproduction of hans holbien the younger's "portrait of henry viii" in my house. good question as it hardly seems to be doing anything here and i am not a fan of royalty.

but i AM a fan of "horrible histories".  and HAHAH i embedded a motion sensor that causes henry to talk in ben willbond's voice. holy crap, this KILLS both me and leff. we've been walking past it all night. here's leff's vine. and here're some crappy vids so you can get some idea of what's amusing us.

when i get tired of henry, i will probably replace him with robert i, count of artois. TOP OF THE POPS

have some pics from the weekend

i can't really give you any new text as i'm still not doing much (still waiting.). am in the middle of the word exchange. i'm finally watching that simon schama doc series and finishing up the zippy tim marlow "nude in art". (if you are keeping track, *this* series is what is making me think i need to spend a week in paris next jan tackling the louvre.)

none of this matters to the cat, however.

i lie. if i'm gone for a week, she will be pretty pissed off at me for about an hour after my return.

still the same

still waiting, still nothing new. this week i read sekret (fun! quick!) and bonjour tristesse  (equally quick, much more rewarding. will be watching the film version this afternoon.)

figured out that the secret to making muffins taste as if they were from a bakery is to add a tiny bit of cinnamon to the batter.

yes, you can see how absolutely scintillating things have been.

holding pattern

i am in a holding pattern. many things about this state (of being but, yes, also washington) are intolerable. thankfully, fiction remains an escape.

i was up until 4 am consuming the storied life of a.j. fikry. earlier that same day, i reread kitchen and also made a sizable dent in twinkle, twinkle.  any of these are books that i would recommend, particularly if you need to live someone else's life for a while. they will engulf you.

do you want to know how to kill a kindle? read an average of about seven books a week for three years. it is incredibly enjoyable but the tech can't cope.

but back to fiction. later today, when time allows, i will be watching "l'avventura", "rome, open city" and, since not everything in my life can be from the criterion collection, "the craft".

question of the day:  why was so much of 90's teen witch media so in love with "how soon is now"? related: do you feel this trend is repeating itself with 21st century bad girl movies and "crown on the ground"/"infinity guitars"
